Overview
The Commerce module gives your team a single, centralised place to manage everything related to your product catalogue. Whether you sell direct to consumers, supply other businesses, or both, Commerce handles the full lifecycle of a product listing from creation through to publication.
The Dashboard
The Commerce dashboard is your central command centre. It surfaces a real-time summary of your catalogue and highlights items that need attention.
Managing Products
Each product in Commerce is made up of a core listing and one or more variants. A variant represents a specific, purchasable version of the product, for example, a shirt in a particular size and colour.
- Navigate to Commerce → Products and click Add Product.
- Enter the product name, description, and assign it to a category.
- Add at least one variant with its SKU, price, and stock quantity.
- Upload product images, you can drag and drop multiple files at once.
- Save as Draft to continue editing later, or Publish to make it live.
Variants are managed from the product detail page. Click Add Variant and define the variant's attributes (e.g. Size: Large, Colour: Navy). Each variant has its own:
- SKU (must be unique across your catalogue)
- Retail and wholesale price
- Stock quantity and low-stock threshold
- Barcode / EAN (optional)
Click any product in the list to open its detail page and edit it. Changes are auto-saved as drafts, click Publish to push updates live.
To remove a product from active listings without permanently deleting it, use Archive. Archived products retain their history and can be restored at any time.
Categories
Categories let you organise your catalogue into a logical hierarchy. Advance supports unlimited nesting, so you can structure categories to match your business exactly, e.g. Clothing → Men's → Shirts .
info Tip: Plan your category hierarchy before adding products. Restructuring categories later is supported but may require re-assigning existing products.
- Go to Commerce → Categories to manage your category tree.
- Drag and drop to reorder or nest categories.
- Assign a category image and description, these appear on customer-facing catalogue pages if you use the Advance storefront embed.
- A product can belong to multiple categories simultaneously.
Pricing & Inventory
Commerce supports separate retail (B2C) and wholesale (B2B) pricing at the variant level. You can also define a recommended retail price (RRP) for reference.
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Retail Price | The price shown to end consumers (B2C). Includes VAT where applicable. |
| Wholesale Price | The price shown to approved trade accounts (B2B). Excludes VAT. |
| RRP | Recommended retail price, used for display and margin calculations only. |
| Stock Quantity | Current on-hand inventory. Updated manually or via import. |
| Low Stock Threshold | Triggers a dashboard alert when stock drops to or below this number. |
Bulk Import
If you're migrating an existing catalogue or adding a large number of products at once, use the bulk import tool rather than creating products one by one.
- Go to Commerce → Import and download the Advance import template.
- Fill in the template with your product and variant data. Each row represents one variant.
- Upload the completed file. Advance validates each row and surfaces any errors before import.
- Review the validation summary and fix any flagged rows.
- Confirm the import. Products are created as drafts, review and publish when ready.

Visibility & Publishing
Products can exist in one of three states at any time. Understanding these states helps you control exactly what is visible to your team and your customers.
